The Iowa Operating a Motor Vehicle Under a Suspended License Program is designed to give program participants the opportunity to look at one’s driving behavior and delve into the factors that cause program participants to develop unsafe driving habits. In the Iowa Operating a Motor Vehicle Under a Suspended License Program, program participants will learn about personality styles and how different personalities react to a variety of driving situations. The relationship between attitudes and behaviors is thoroughly examined and program participants will be taught some elements of stress management, time management and how to maintain control of your emotions. The effects of alcohol and drug use among drivers is reviewed and program participants will given the opportunity to examine their decision-making process and the consequences that their choices bring to themselves, their family and others in the community. The program is not designed to be a form of punishment or to make program participants feel guilty for driving under a suspended license. Its purpose is to give participants an opportunity to develop a renewed awareness of their driving responsibilities and to make a firm commitment to never drive again with a suspended license. This user-friendly workbook incorporates NCTI’s Personal Awareness Journal™ along with Real Colors® and emphasizes the cognitive interaction of the curriculum.
