Making Stuff Up: How Assumptions Shape Our Reactions, Our Relationships, and Our Choices

You walk out of a conversation and think, “That person was being difficult.”

Or, “They do not respect me.”
Or, “That was a dig.”
Or, “This is not going well.”

Maybe you are right.
And maybe you just made something up.

Humans are meaning-making machines. When we do not have full information, our brains do not wait. They fill in the gaps. We tell ourselves stories about intent, motivation, and what things mean. Most of the time, we do this instantly and invisibly.

In Real Colors, we often call this Making Stuff Up. Not lying. Not being dramatic. Just being human.

In this Real Colors Facilitator Roundtable, we will explore how assumptions form, how different Colors tend to make meaning differently, and how those stories quietly shape our reactions, our relationships, and our choices, both in and out of the training space.

This is not a training. It is a peer learning conversation about the stories we tell ourselves, how often we believe them, and what helps us stay curious rather than certain.

If you have ever reacted to something and later realized, “I might have made that mean something it did not have to mean,” this conversation is for you. Whether you have something to share, or simply want to learn, we look forward to seeing you there.

Seats are limited for this peer learning discussion, so do not wait to register.
